Unattached Patients Research

Over 130,000 residents in the Ottawa region do not have a family doctor (unattached patients). Lack of access to primary care providers is a significant hurdle to receiving high-quality comprehensive health care and creates greater reliance on emergency departments and walk-in clinics. Dr. Liddy and her research team have reviewed international approaches to increasing access to continuous care for unattached patients [insert Unattached Patient Rapid Review citation #], and are working alongside clinicians in the region to develop and champion an Unattached Patient Strategy that, with the support and funding from the City of Ottawa and Ministry of Heath, will be able to expand access to comprehensive family medicine to every person living in the Ottawa region.
